What is Cryosurgery?

During cryosurgery, the CryoPen uses a very fine stream of nitrous oxide, allowing Dr. Lee to work with precision for each procedure. The freezing action of the nitrous oxide destroys the targeted tissue, leaving healthy tissue undisturbed. Since the CryoPen is so precise, it allows Dr. Lee's accuracy down to the millimeter targeting even the smallest imperfections.

What Can I Expect in the CryoPen Treatment for Skin Flaws?

Your skin imperfections will be targeted and destroyed by the very fine spray of nitrous oxide delivered by the CryoPen. The unwanted tissue will be frozen, leaving the nearby healthy tissue untouched. When the area is frozen, it turns white. It is then allowed to thaw and will flush and turn red in color. The treated area will blister, lasting three to five days, and a scab will form. This scab will fall off within two weeks following your procedure. Depending on the size and extent of the lesion treated, the area will heal completely within two to six weeks following treatment.

The skin that forms following treatment with CryoPen will initially be a slightly lighter color but will blend in with the surrounding tissue with time. Because the CryoPen uses freezing technology to remove your lesions, you will not be left with a visible scar once the area is healed. Aftercare is minimal following your treatment with CryoPen. The area should be left alone so the healing process proceeds as it should. It is important that you refrain from disturbing the scab, as this may lengthen the amount of time it takes the lesion to fully heal or lead to scarring.
